I am currently a CIHR and Koerner Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) under the supervision of Dr. Neil Vasdev; Director and Chief Radiochemist, Brain Health Imaging Centre; Director, Azrieli Centre for Neuro-Radiochemistry, CAMH.
I have a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Saskatchewan, a Graduate Teaching Preparation Certificate from the Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching and Learning at the University of Saskatchewan, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Ambrose Alli University.
I have received multiple academic and research awards over the period of years and have collaborated and contributed to multiple research/review articles, and national and international conference publications.
I have been incredibly blessed and fortunate to receive world-class PhD research training in the labs of Dr. Ed S. Krol and Dr. Chris P. Phenix. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to work closely and collaborate with Dr. Eric W. Price and Dr. Robert Laprairie.
Currently, my research interests include drug design and development of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Imaging Probes for Brain Imaging, and development of new radiofluorination and radiocarbonylation methods for expanding access to novel radiotracers.
I am particularly interested in investigating the different plaques involved in neurodegenerative diseases and how we can develop chemical tools for early diagnosis, monitor disease response to neuroprotective therapies, monitor disease progression and investigate how mutations in gene that code for certain proteins correlate with the pathology of different neurodegenerative diseases.
I am a proud son of a teacher and understand the value of education. I went from struggling with Chemistry in high school to graduating as the best Chemistry student (BSc) in a class of over 100 students. I believe that the job of a teacher is to educate, impact, nurture, and challenge students in the classroom while harnessing their individual strengths to embrace and become lifelong learners.
My favorite non-chemistry quote is "Without commitment you will not start, and without consistency you will not finish" - Denzel Washington.
